Urban Om NYC is dedicated to sharing the time tested practices of yoga and meditation with New York City by means of private, one-on-one and group yoga classes. Sessions are offered in a variety of styles and custom tailored to meet the unique goals and needs of each individual. Whether the best fit for you or your company is Vinyasa Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Meditation or a combination of these offerings, these practices have the ability to bring you closer to balance. Classes are offered both in-home and in-office, so you can be sure to bring balance to your day in a way that works with your lifestyle and schedule.
Over the past 12 years, Jenny has studied and taught a variety of yoga styles including Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Restorative and Prenatal Yoga. She completed her initial 200 hour teacher training in Columbus, Ohio at It’s Yoga under the direction of Laurel Hodory after receiving her BFA in dance performance from the Ohio State University. She completed her second 200 hour training from the Shala in New York City where she studied closely and continues to work with Barbara Verrochi and Kristin Leigh. In addition to her training in vinyasa yoga, she loves to teach restorative yoga, for which she is certified to teach through her training at Yoga Works. She focuses her teaching practice on private, one-on-one in home lessons and group classes at the Shala. In addition to private and group teaching, she is honored to be a mentor and teacher training facilitator at the Shala, helping students become teachers.
As a firm believer in the vast benefits of the practice of yoga, meditation and mindfulness, Jenny turns to these time tested techniques every day to create a more harmonious way of living. It is an honor to share these tools with others as yoga truly makes life better and enables us to make the world a more peaceful, joyful place by offering the best version of ourselves to everyone around us.
Vinyasa translates as, ‘to place in a special way’. Linking breath with movement, this practice has the power to leave one feeling aligned physically, mentally and spiritually. Classes are typically taught with breath counts and mindful hands on adjustments, guiding one through the practice in a thoughtful, safe process.
Just like the name suggests, restorative yoga is an opportunity to catch up on some much needed R&R. Restorative yoga focuses on poses that are supported by props, giving the body a break from muscular effort. Supporting the body in various poses with bolsters, blankets, eye pillows and belts, the body over time balances the parasympathetic nervous system- think rest and digest system rather than our often norm of fight or flight mode. The support of the props enable subtle openings that can reestablish physical and mental harmony. Poses are held between 5 and 20 minutes in order to attain the full benefits of the poses. Supported poses are supplemented with guided meditation, pranayama, and accompanied by quiet as well as good tunes. This practice can be great for those looking to de-stress, recovering from injury, or just needing a slower paced practice.
Similar to vinyasa yoga, meditation is often taught as a breath based practice. By exercising various meditation techniques, one cultivates mindfulness and increases awareness of the inner workings of the mind. This increased awareness has the ability to enable one to better manage stress and live life in a more present and fulfilling way. Meditation practitioners have experienced amazing results, some of which include reduced anxiety and stress, better sleep, improved concentration, and increased mindfulness.
An incredible practice suitable for all levels, Pilates Mat builds strength in a safe and efficient way. Jenny received her pilates mat certification from Kinected Pilates in NYC and teaches one on one and group classes with a therapeutic approach. This somatic practice is especially great for injury prevention and recovery.

Jenny has been coming to our home on a regular basis for nearly four years. She’s seen us through a pregnancy, two post-partum periods, various back injuries, normal aches and complaints, and of course, times when we feel great, too. Jenny is the perfect teacher for each one of these states. She’s incredibly knowledgeable, infinitely adaptable and wholeheartedly non-judgemental. She tailors each session to exactly how we are feeling and the hour passes by too quickly.
Doing couples yoga with Jenny is also therapeutic for our marriage. It is something we anticipate and experience together, and given that Jenny also happens to have a great sense of humor, each hour brings many laughs and much levity.
When we finish one session, before Jenny leaves, we book the next. And from that moment we look forward to it.

Jenny is such a generous and warm teacher. Her classes are really well structured and I found myself being clearly led through beautiful sequences. Her adjustments were extremely helpful and I left her class feeling fully guided and well taken care of.

Jenny is the only instructor I have had that has been able to perfectly adapt my ability and needs session to session. Her expertise, communication, and coaching are second to none. I will continue to use Jenny to progress my yoga.
